School Board meetings are aired on The Education Channel, Bright House Networks, channel 614, Verizon, channel 32, and Adelphia, channel 18, Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m.; and replayed Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 9:00 a.m. Meetings can be viewed live at www.sdhc.k12.fl.us/board/, and become available for viewing on demand after noon the day following board meetings. Windows Media Player or Quick Time must be installed on your computer in order to watch streamed video.
Article IX of the Florida Constitution says in part, "The education of children is a fundamental value of the people of the State of Florida. It is, therefore, a paramount duty of the state to make adequate provision for the education of all children residing within its borders." The Article also states that the educational system must be "uniform, efficient, safe, secure, and high-quality," and class size limits must be imposed. Pre-kindergarten learning opportunities must be made available. There must be a state university system.Note:
